3rd annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day 11/10/12

Did you know that Saturday, November 10th is the 3rd annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day? The non-profit organization ASTRA (the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association) coordinates this fun day to introduce the fun of shopping locally at your neighborhood toy store. Participating stores will host in-store events like craft projects or live performances for families to help kick off the holiday shopping season!

Why should you shop at your neighborhood toy store?

Unique Quality Toys

The quality of toys found at local toy stores are much better than toys typically found at national retailers.

We were sent 3 toys as a part of the 3rd annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day celebration. All three products are unique, inspire imaginative play and the boys love them!

Puppet On A Stic Brio

These awesome puppets are great for promoting open-ended and creative play. My boys love their oversized head and googly eyes. The puppets are easy to use and extremely well made and with a crazy inexpensive suggested retail price of $9.99. Plus the boys easily roped grandparents and uncles into playing puppets with them, the puppets (and my boys!) are hard to resist! Winking smile

Brio Classic Figure 8 Train Set

This classic wooden railway set includes 15 track pieces, a sleek engine 2 railway cars plus accessories. My boys even added their own accessories in their imaginative play. I appreciate the quality of these well built trains and know they will last for years to come. The suggested retail price is $49.99

My First Super Science Kit

My First Super Science Kit

The My First Super Science Kit contains over 70 science experiments for kids 4+. Both of my boys LOVED completing the electrical circuit together. And Quinn had lots of fun making “snow”. We have barely scratched the surface on the various science experiments, so I know we will get lots of use out of this fun kit! A great value in my opinion for $39.99

Shop Local

Besides fun, unique and high quality toys, there is a better local economic impact when you shop locally.

According to the 3/50 Project, for every $100 spent in local, independently-owned stores, $68 returns to the community in the form of taxes, salaries, charitable contributions and more— in contrast with only $43 when consumers spend their money at a national chain.
