Sedona is a very iconic Arizona location with lots of outdoor fun. It’s under 2 hours from Phoenix or 3 & 1/2 hours from Tucson, making it an easy drive for most people. The Hilton Sedona makes a great base for exploring the area. I also recommend checking out the Blazin’ M Ranch in nearby Cottonwood for some cowboy fun!
2. Williams & Grand Canyon
A little further north is Williams, Arizona. Home to Bearizona, a drive thru zoo, and the Grand Canyon Railway. We are hoping to take our boys on a trip to the Grand Canyon via the train soon. It’s just over a two hour train ride from Williams to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. The train returns to Williams about 4 hours later, giving you a nice chunk of time to explore the area. You can also opt to stay overnight at one of the Grand Canyon Lodges and return back to Williams the next day.
3. Tombstone & Bisbee
Heading southeast from Tucson, you will find yourself in the iconic Wild West town of Tombstone. There are several historic sites to visit and don’t miss the Wyatt Earp & Doc Holliday gun fight reenactment at the O.K Corral. In Bisbee you’ll find shopping, tours and museums, the Queen Mine tour is definitely one of bigger attractions.
4. Greer & Sunrise
We head to the White Mountains several times a year to enjoy the cooler weather. It’s also a great place to play in the snow during the winter months including over Rodeo Break. Just past Sunrise is Greer, Arizona which is beautiful little town full of unique places to stay.
Road Trip Prep
Once you’ve picked a destination, you need to prep for your road trip. I headed to Walmart last week to our car ready for our next road trip.
Having my oil changed at Walmart is very convenient. I love being able to get my groceries while my oil is being changed. Keep in mind that beyond saving money on oil changes, you can also price match your groceries with sales from other local stores. It’s a one stop shop full of savings, money and time! Beyond picking up regular groceries, it’s also a great place to pick up road trip essentials. Staying safe, clean, fed and entertained are road trip priorities.
