Our visit to Walt Disney World last month was chock full of first time adventures for us. It was my boys’ first visit to Walt Disney World and Florida. After running out of time to do Build-A-Bear during the Disney Social Media Mom Celebration in April, I promised the boys we would do it in Florida. Of course I spoke too soon because there is no Build A Bear at Walt Disney World. Thankfully there is something even cooler, they have a Build-A-Dino location!
Build-A-Dino is located within the T-Rex Cafe in Downtown Disney. We spent a few hours exploring Downtown Disney the night we arrived in Florida including making new dinosaur friends or “friendosaurs”. It turned out a great way to spend time without buying theme park tickets for a partial day.
We’ve never been Build-A-Bear before but apparently the whole experience is very similar to a traditional Build a Bear store. You start by picking out a prehistoric friend to make. There were lots of dinosaur choices but I also noticed a wooly mammoth and saber tooth tiger.
Then a dinosaur builder helps you create your new friend0saur. Just like Build-A-Bear, the price of the animal includes stuffing it and adding a heart. Anything additional like sounds, clothing and accessories are at an additional cost. We paid about $40 each for the dinosaurs once we added sound (Dinosaurs MUST roar, right?) and a 2-piece outfit.
There are only 6 Build-A-Dino locations and none are on the West Coast so it’s definitely a unique experience to check out when visiting Orlando.
