Hi everyone, while we are on our great Chicago/Indiana adventure I asked Courtney to share her favorite Tucson places, so appropriate for Tucson Tuesday, I think! Please show some love for Courtney by leaving a comment or heading over to her blog and saying hi!
Hi I am Courtney from What’s Up with the Wilhelms and I was so excited when Karen invited me to guest post on her blog.
I love Karen’s blog for MANY reasons, but one of the reasons is because she is a true Tucsonan. I love reading her posts that highlight Tucson, the city that I have grown to love. Today I am going to share with you three of my favorite places in Tucson.
I had to start with The University of Arizona because that is where my love with Tucson started. I can still remember visiting U of A for the first time when I was still in high school. It is such a spectacular campus with such rich history. Did you know that there is a museum on campus dedicated to Arizona? The Arizona State museum is home to rich displays that work to persevere the cultures of the southwest. You can also see plenty of live performances at the university. UA Presents brings the world’s finest theatre, dance, classical, jazz music to our community.
When living in gorgeous southern Arizona, I sometimes miss seeing the change of seasons in my backyard. Luckily in Tucson we have Mt Lemmon. The highest point of the Catalina Mountains, Mt. Lemmon is a great solution when needing a different scenery. Enjoy a beautiful drive up Catalina Highway, and watch as the saguaros disappear and lush, green trees take their place. When visiting Mt. Lemmon plan on enjoying some of the beautiful hiking trails. After working up an appetite, I highly recommend you visit the Cookie Cabin for a delicious, homemade, GIANT cookie. You will not be disappointed. In the winter, instead of heading for a hike, why not head to Ski Valley for some sledding, skiing, and snow-angel making.
Since we live in such a beautiful city, where we can spend most of our days outside La Encantada is one of my favorite places. La Encantada is a gorgeous outdoor shopping center. Filled with fun, unique shops and great places to eat. On cooler days it’s great to walk outside and enjoy the warm sun, on hot summer days you can enjoy the cool and refreshing mister system.
