Our mountain place is nestled right against national park land, so we usually just step outside and wander when we are up there. Exploring with Papa is one of the boys’ favorite things to do up there.
When we are ready to discover a new outdoor space to explore, we can head over to Discover The Forest. It’s a great website to find parks and forests near you. Simply search by zip code and refine your search results by activity and site type. When I use Tucson as an example, we have a lot of public parks listed.
I love the idea of using the website to find outdoor fun while traveling as well. Last summer my boys had a blast at Lake James during a family reunion. One of my favorite memories was their discovery of lightning bugs! The bugs don’t exist west of Kansas so they are definitely exotic creatures to Arizona kids!
What’s your favorite outdoor place to explore?
