I love creating a new DIY Disney shirt for every Disney trip. Spending a lot of money on new shirts usually isn’t in our vacation budget, so I’ve come up with a few ways to save money on Disney shirts. Making my own shirts is my favorite method! Granted, I’m not a graphic designer, so I tend to keep the designs simple. With our next adventure in Florida and our love of the new Disney movie, The Good Dinosaur, I knew a fun dino themed Mickey shirt would be perfect for a visit to DinoLand USA at Animal Kingdom!
Mickey head shirts are quite popular in the parks and super easy to customize. I simply added the Good Dinosaur graphic inside a Mickey Mouse head outline and then used the freezer paint method to create the shirt.
In the past, I’ve just used scissors to cut out my template on freezer paper. I finally invested in a Cricut machine which made this project much easier for me, I am terrible scissors! Either method, scissors or a fancy machine will work though.
Keeping the cost low, I used two plain t-shirts I picked up previously at the dollar store. I always pick up cheap shirts in the boys’ sizes whenever I find them. I might even invest in another color of fabric paint for our next creation. I’m wild and crazy like that. 😉
