As the holiday season approaches, your busy schedule will just get busier and busier. There are more errands to run, more shopping to do and more activities to attend. Being organized and on top of things is the only way to survive with your sanity, that and keeping your kids fed!
Nobody wants to deal with “Hangry” kids, keeping them happy means having a snack on hand when activities and errands keep us out and about more often this season. I know when I’ve been running late and not had time to grab them a snack, I usually pay for it when the hangry kids emerge. The easiest thing to do is make a few DIY snack packs ahead of time, making it easy to grab one and get out the door for playdates, doctor’s appointments, and activities.
DIY Snack Packs
- Quart-size plastic bag
- Small bottle of water
- RITZ Filled Sandwich Crackers
- Piece of fruit, fruit strip or applesauce pouch
- Hand wipe
Start with a quart-size plastic bag and fill it with a small bottle of water, RITZ Filled Sandwich Crackers, some fruit, and a hand wipe. Make a few DIY snack packs ahead of time and store them in the fridge or pantry (depending upon which fruit option you choose).
It’s easy to just grab one on your way out of the door and toss it in your bag. There is no scrambling to find a good snack option, fill a water bottle, etc. Plus all the trash can be sealed back into the bag, making it easier for me to toss it back into my purse when there isn’t a trash can nearby.
RITZ Filled Sandwich Crackers are now available at Kroger stores. I found RITZ Peanut Butter Filled Sandwich Crackers at my local Frys Food, along with everything else I needed to make our own snack packs for the week. Finding everything I need at one store saves me time and it’s one of the reasons I love shopping at my Frys store. Plus it always smells like yummy cinnamon during the holidays, it totally gets me in the holiday spirit as soon as I walk in the store! By the way, if your kiddos prefer cheese, RITZ Cheese Filled Sandwich Crackers are also a good option.
Keeping a few premade snack packs in the pantry or fridge each week can help make it easier to get out the door and also save you from buying junk from a vending machine or convenience store.
