Valentine’s Day and Rodeo Days are just around the corner. And while they don’t really share any similarities other than occurring in February, they both can present a clothing challenge. Both events are special occasions that are fun to dress up on but we rarely have appropriate clothes, leading to a budget challenge!
Valentines Day Style and Cowboy Clothes for Kids
My boys dress very casual and are in t-shirts almost all the time. To save money on outfits for the boys, I shop clearance sales, consignment shops and scour the web for online bargains. And for this situation, I double up the purpose of new clothes.
My plan was to find a nice red shirt that could work dressing up for Valentines day and also double as Western wear!
After stalking my local consignment shop for a few weeks, I gave up hope and went straight to CookieKids.com. We have ordered from them several times and have loved the quality and pricing. They also have a sweet clearance section and usually find a couple great things!
I found this great red plaid shirt. Unfortunately it wasn’t available in both boys’ sizes. So my next idea was plain red button down shirts. I found Elliot’s shirt in a set complete with pants, vest and tie for only $16.99! I also found a similar red shirt with tie for Quinn. And speaking of sizing and get it right, Cookie’s Kids offers Alva Kids sizing. There is a little icon to the right of where you select the size. Click it and you can register and have them determine the best size for your kid based on a few basic measurements! I know clothes sizes can run different so I always hesitate on whether to order up or down a size.
Our Cookie’s Kids order arrived on Friday and I couldn’t wait to have the boys try on their new dual purpose outfits. They cleaned up well and looked fabulous in their “fancy” valentine’s shirts and ties! Outfits that would work nicely for any special, dress up occasion!
Then we lost the ties and vest, and added a few Western accessories. They had a ton of fun acting like cowboys! Quinn has been wanting a “real” belt for awhile, so he was very excited to see his new “Saddle Scroll”
cowboy vaquero belt from Cookie’s!
What do you think? Do you like my dual purpose Valentines and Vaqueros outfits?
