Shameless and Sweet: Emmy Rossum #SentimentalJourney Album Review

Are you a Emmy Rossum fan? We are huge fans of Showtime series Shameless. It’s the only reason we pay for Showtime. Emmy plays Fiona Gallaghar, the oldest sibling in a crazy, messed up family. The scenarios they find themselves in are beyond ridiculous, awesomely ridiculous! Plus William H Macy and Joan Cusack are in the series too!

#SentimentalJourney Album Review

Because we are huge fans of Emmy on Shameless, I jumped at the chance to review her new album, Sentimental Journey.  To be honest I didn’t realize Emmy sang until I saw her star in the new Cotton commercials last year. Clearly I haven’t seen Phantom of the Opera.

Sentimental Journey, releasing on January 29th, is a collection of classic covers that takes us through the American Songbook.  Emmy’s 12-song ‘passion project’ is an emotional musical journey, with each song representing a month in the year.  I have to admit that I am not a big music critic and my taste in music runs pop, 80’s pop, 90’s pop, pop punk, country pop, etc, so naturally this type of album wouldn’t normally be something I listen too. However, Emmy’s album Sentimental Journey is full of timeless songs that Emmy sings beautifully. My favorite song from the album is “Pretty Paper” but of course I’m a sucker for Christmas music! If I could pick another standard for the album, I think “You Were Meant For Me” would have been an sweet addition. I think if you are a fan of classic American songs, and/or Emmy you will definitely enjoy this album.
