Like most kids, my boys are not super fond of brushing their teeth. In fact Quinn used to freak out like we were hurting him when he was little. Seriously it was torture for him AND us. Thankfully, he eventually grew out of this stage and Elliot never entered it! The biggest problem we have now is that Quinn brushes his teeth for all of 10 seconds and is done. If you ask him to keep going, it’s another 10 seconds of brushing, and then he’s done…
Trying to get the full 2 minutes of dentist-recommended brushing done is ridiculous.
I’ve had friends recommend a timer but it seems inconvenient and it certainly doesn’t encourage Quinn to keep brushing. I am so excited that we’ve found a great solution that includes a timer WITH an incentive to keep him brushing. Arm & Hammer Tooth Tunes play 2 minutes of a fun song to encourage kids to brush their teeth for the full dentist-recommended time. Quinn loves his new toothbrush so much that he insisted on brushing his teeth twice when we opened it up. And then promptly said “Smell my breath Mom!”Silly kid. 😉
The technology is pretty cool, the bristles of the toothbrush stream sound vibrations through the teeth, allowing kids to hear the music while they brush. I’m happy to report there are variety of songs available, from current pop songs and classic rock anthems to little kid jams. Your kiddo will certainly like at least one and you can preview some of the tunes online.
- “One Thing” and “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction
- “Tonight Tonight” by Hot Chelle Rae
- “We Found Love” by Rihanna
- “We Will Rock You” by Queen
- “Rock & Roll All Night” by KISS
- “Wake Me Up” by KidzBop
- “I Love It” by KidzBop
- Tooth Tunes Jr. “The Alphabet Song”
- Tooth Tunes Jr. “Brush-a-long Song”
I let Quinn have first choice between the songs but knew he would pick We Will Rock You. Elliot’s Tooth Tunes features Tonight Tonight which is fun but if I ever see Roar by Katy Perry or any song from Disney’s Frozen, I would buy a dozen for him. 🙂
Which song would your kid love to hear while brushing their teeth?
