Market On The Move {Tucson Tuesday}

Have you heard of Market On The Move?

It’s a great way to save money on your grocery bill, eat heathy and prevent produce from going to waste!

Market On The Move is an event organized by The 3000 Club. The 3000 Club works with churches and other non-profit organizations to host weekly events where semi-truck loads of produce are brought to various sites around the Phoenix and Tucson areas. For a $10 donation you receive up to 60lbs of produce. They encourage you share the produce with friends, family or anyone in need.

I recommend arriving early because some varieties of produce are limited! They do have big produce boxes available to carry your haul but I brought my own tote bags and even saw people with wagons.  Two weeks ago,  some people received HUGE spaghetti squash, there were none left when it was my turn. Of course I would have had no way to carry it anyway. They were HUGE! Market On The Move is definitely a situation where bringing a friend to help is a good idea.

As you walk down the line the volunteers will tell you how much of each variety you can have. I ended up splitting the produce I bought with my brother and SIL, which I paid $5 for 6 Red Bell peppers, 2 green bell peppers, 1/2 water melon, 1 and 1/2 acorn squash, 3 zucchini  and a ton of tomatoes! It was a very good deal in my book!
