My boys have always been big fans of the Despicable Me movies. While Gru and his girls are fun characters, the minions stole the show in both movies. So it made sense Illumination Entertainment would release a movie all about those cute little yellow creatures! One of the boys’ favorite movies from this summer was Minions © 2015 Universal Studios. All rights reserved.
After we saw the Minions movie in theaters this summer, the boys couldn’t wait to buy it and watch it at home. The movie was finally released on Blu-Ray/DVD last Tuesday which meant it was time for another family movie night. And a movie night requires a movie night snack! Instead of the standard popcorn fare, I opted to make a minions inspired banana dip. Everyone knows how much minions love bananas! What do you dip in minion banana dip? Apples of course! Did you know apples are the minions’ second favorite food?
The recipe is so easy to whip together with just a few simple ingredients.
Minion Banana Dip Recipe
Add 1/4 C sour cream (I used fat-free), 1/4 C creamy peanut butter, 1/4 C brown sugar (packed) with 2 ripe bananas sliced to a blender. Blend the ingredients until smooth, then refrigerate the banana dip until you’re ready to eat. Serve with sliced apples!
The boys ask for caramel dip sometimes with their apples, I love this banana dip recipe is a healthier alternative. Plus it’s easy to make and uses ingredients that we usually have on hand. I think plain yogurt could substitute for the sour cream if you aren’t a sour cream family like us. Another option? Peter opted to dip more bananas into the minion banana dip! He must be part minion. 😉
