Ava is our Santa dog, we rescued her two Christmas ago after the boys begged and pleaded for a dog. We waited until they were old enough to help care for her and would also appreciate her. Her rescue was extra special because Santa picked her out for us. 😉 It’s been the best Christmas gift the boys have ever received.
We want the very best for her, the very best we can provide within reason of course. Home cooked meals are best for everyone including your pets, but I am working hard on planning meals at home more often for the humans in our family so I don’t have the time or bandwidth to make Ava’s dog food too. Maybe someday when they’ve figured out how to add another couple hours to each day. 😉 Until then, we’ve been exploring pet food products readily available to purchase and recently came across Nature’s Recipe.
Nature’s Recipe pet food is developed using high-quality ingredients. When I hear “high-quality” dog food, I assumed it had to be something I made at home from fresh ingredients or a fancy, expensive brand of food from a specialty pet store. I was wrong! Nature’s Recipe premium products are now available at Walmart locations across the country.
That means, I can easily grab a bag while I shop at my neighborhood Walmart store for my household essentials each week. There is no need to make a special stop at a pet store. Seriously, if I can save time by minimizing my errands each week I am a happy girl. And not only is it new at Walmart but it’s available at a reasonable price too.
Nature’s Recipe offers a wide variety of formulas including grain free options made with venison, salmon or lamb. Don’t worry they also offer a more standard chicken option too. I picked up the Grain Free Easy to Digest Salmon Sweet Potato & Pumpkin Recipe variety for Ava to try. It seemed like a very gourmet combination of healthy ingredients. It’s also grain free which is often touted as healthier for people and pets alike.
So how did she like the gourmet variety I chose? There was no hesitation when I poured Ava a bowl of the Grain Free Easy to Digest Salmon Sweet Potato & Pumpkin Recipe. She powered through the food like there was no tomorrow, based on that reaction I can definitely say she prefers it to her regular dog food.
She kept going and going and going until she was just licking the bowl. She didn’t leave any crumbs behind and was content with a belly full of healthy, yummy dog food. She is definitely a fan of salmon, sweet potatoes and pumpkin!
