Quinn just started little league again and that means we are back on team snack duty. During the soccer season, our half time snacks started healthy with parents bringing fresh fruit but as the season progressed fresh fruit regressed to fruit snacks instead. I can’t blame the other parents, I understand why they opted to bring fruit snacks. They are so convenient: individually packaged, shelf stable, and kids love them. I love the idea of bringing homemade fruit snacks for the team snack. My grandma makes pomegranate jelly every year, so it’s a flavor near and dear to my heart. I don’t even have to pick and juice the fruit, POM makes it easy to just pick up a bottle of 100% Pomegranate Juice!
Homemade Pomegranate Fruit Snacks Recipe #CrazyHealthy
- 1/2 C POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice
- 1/2 C Monk Fruit In Raw (adjust to taste)
- Squirt of Lemon Juice
- 2 oz Gelatin
Combine everything in a sauce pan on medium heat. Heat slowly until throughly combined. Carefully pour mixture into fun molds (we had a Star Wars theme going with R2D2 and stars). Or just pour it into a shallow pan and cut into squares once cooled. Cool in the fridge until solid. Sliding a knife along the edges of the mold will make it easier to remove the fruit snacks.
My kids are used to traditional fruit snacks, so it took a little trial and error on my part to make them sweet enough. You could easily substitute honey or another type of sweetener depending upon your family’s needs. Next time I plan on trying POM Wonderful’s 100% Pomegranate Juice Concentrate.
Even if your community prefers store-bought snacks, these homemade pomegranate fruit snacks are perfect for school lunches or even birthday parties!
