Having fun and staying cool this summer doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Summer time is full of Mom-moments or MOMents when moms need to resolve a stressful situation. You know when kids are hot and bored like that doesn’t have 10 times a day all summer long. 😉 Check out these 5 easy ways cool off this summer, also known as no-brainer MOMents!
1. Go to the movies
Many movie theaters offer free or cheap summer movies for kids. You can also find some parks and recreation department and other local community groups hosting dive in movies at pools or evening movies under the stars. To find movie theaters or community groups that offer this free or cheap entertainment option, just google “(your city’s name) summer kids movies” or something similar and you’ll likely find a list of locations near you.
2. Go swimming
Take the kids swimming. We don’t own a pool but all of the grandparents do, so we have plenty of opportunities to let our boys swim. Don’t know anyone with a pool? Try your local city pools or even a small blow-up one for the backyard. My boys love splashing around just about anywhere.
3. Visit a splash pad
Speaking of splashing, I love community splash pads even more than pools. We only have a few options in Tucson but if you live near a bigger city you’re likely to find more options at local parks, community centers, and even shopping centers. I’ve found splash pads to be free in most cases but sometimes there is a minimal admission fee.
4. Have a water fight
Don’t have a splash pad or pool nearby? Pick up some plastic buckets, water guns, and balloons and let your kids have a water fight with their friends.
5. Eat a popsicle
After you’ve had your water fun, let everyone enjoy a popsicle. Budget Saver Twin Pops can help resolve most stressful summer situations. They are cold, sweet and budget friendly!
Did you know the Twin Pop was invented during the great depression so that two children could split one for a nickel? They aren’t quite as cheap anymore but I bought a bag of their signature Rainbow Array assortment for about $2! Each package of 18 includes 6 different flavors, so everyone can choose their favorite kind too!
