Big Hero 6 opens in theaters today! Who is ready to meet BayMax? I had the opportunity to screen it earlier this week with all three of my boys and we loved it! I think you will too!
Official Movie Description
From Walt Disney Animation Studios, the team behind “Frozen” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” comes “Big Hero 6,” an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops between Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit), a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada (voice of Ryan Potter). When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie GoGo Tomago (voice of Jamie Chung), neatnik Wasabi (voice of Damon Wayans Jr.), chemistry whiz Honey Lemon (voice of Genesis Rodriguez) and fanboy Fred (voice of T.J. Miller). Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called “Big Hero 6.”
Baymax is developed to be a non threatening, huggable personal healthcare assistant. After Hiro’s brother dies early in the movie, he decides to turn Baymax and his friends into Super Heroes to fight a bad guy. His friends are science geeks that incorporate their research projects into their super hero personas. I love that Big Hero 6 shows science as fun and cool.
This is the bad guy. The scariest thing to consider is this masked guy chasing Hiro and his friends through San Fransokyo. My 4 1/2 year old was fine with it. He had seen a movie trailer with the bad guy already so he knew what to expect.
I was a little shocked by Hiro’s brothers death and was a little worried about how the boys would take it. Quinn said it made him really sad. :-/ That being said, the scene is short and there is nothing graphic to worry about.
Check out this trailer to see sampling of the silliness, action and the “scary” bad guy.
Overall we loved Baymax and the rest of the Big Hero 6 gang. It’s a really fun mix of super heroes and Disney magic, with two little boys what more can you ask for? Quinn has already asked if we could buy the movie instead of renting it at redbox because that won’t be for a while I am sure we will catch it in theaters again soon.
Be sure to stay through the end of the credit for a fun bonus scene. And be sure to get to the theater early, FEAST, a really fun Disney short is showing before Big Hero 6. It’s really adorable and had everyone going “Awhhh” in the theater!
Disclosure: I attended a screening of Big Hero 6 to facilitate this review.
