A few days ago I attended an early screening of Cinderella, Disney’s new live action version of the classic fairy tale. I really enjoyed the movie and if you head back over here tomorrow you can read my review of Cinderella. Cinderella and her prince were amazing of course and while I am not a fan of mean girls, I couldn’t help but feel a little bad for her stepsisters. They were rather ridiculous in both action and looks, definitely well played comic relief in the movie.
Their outfits were so outlandish and over the top that I wanted to celebrate it somehow. I tend to love ridiculousness. So I thought the perfect thing would be to make them their own crowns, cookie crowns that is. They may not win the prince’s hand in marriage but they can each have their own princess crown. 😉
These cookies are super easy to make and your little prince or princess can definitely help! Simply make your favorite sugar cookie recipe (or mix) and dye half of it yellow and the other half orange. I happen to have a crown cookie cutter already but if you don’t amazon has a couple nice options. (affiliate link).
Then I separated out the yellow and orange M&M minis from a couple of tubes and randomly added them to each crown. I wanted emulate their silly polka dot dresses. Bake according to the recipe and enjoy.
I think my Cinderella’s Stepsisters Cookies turned out quite well and would make a fun addition to any Cinderella or Disney Villains’ themed party! And if you are a fan of Cinderella’s Fairy God Mother don’t miss these magic wand treats!
