Back in June I had a super quick trip to Oakland to attend the Disney Social Media Moms On The Road event. The event was held at the Claremont Hotel in Berkley. The hotel looked almost like a castle when we first arrived!
Originally a wealthy family built a dream “castle” on the site. The castle burned to the ground in 1901, eventually the Claremont Hotel was built and opened in 1915. There are claims that the hotel is haunted, either because of the fire or the unconfirmed death of a child staying at the hotel.
I have no idea if it’s true or not and thankfully didn’t experience any creepiness. The Claremont Hotel did give me a Tower of Terror vibe with its old school romantic look.
There was lots of fun pictures from its heyday on display.
I did have a scare at the hotel though. There are no vending machines in the hotel which means no quick Diet Coke fixes for me in the morning. Thankfully an awesome Claremont employee rescued me. He must have sensed the overwhelming sense of panic when he told me about the lack of vending machines. He offered to grab me a few diet sodas from the back.
He was like a knight in shining armor.
I only stayed one night and spent the bulk of my time at the Disney event, I’d love to go back and spend a few more nights experiencing the historical flair the Claremont Hotel has to offer. I’d like to avoid any haunting experiences though!
