Kids travel gear changes as they age. We are firmly in the grade school years now and while we no longer have to pack car seats and strollers, I’ve found we still appreciate having few key pieces of kids travel gear on trips. Here’s a list of 5 kids travel products we loved during our summer adventures which included road trips and airplane rides.
1. Mad Libs
A classic from my own childhood, Mad Libs is an awesome activity to pack for elementary school kids. It’s the perfect non-tech activity that usually results in lots of silly laughter. There are even Mad Libs Junior versions for the younger kids.
The Mifold is an amazing booster seat that can easily be packed when folded down. We were sent one to check out during our summer travels. As you can see it is 10 times smaller than a regular booster seat. It’s easy to slide in a backpack or the front of a carry on suitcase. It was perfect for us in the Toyota Highlander Hybrid we drove during our Indiana adventure this summer. Don’t worry about checking a booster seat, renting one from a rental car agency or borrowing from a friend, just pack a Mifold and you are ready to use ride sharing services like Uber or catch rides with relatives.
Tangoes are travel games that are perfect for one player. Use simple geometric shapes to make a variety of images. The pieces are magnetic so you don’t have worry about losing pieces while on the go.
4. BuddyPhones InFlight
My boys can be quite rough on headphones so we’ve been happily tested BuddyPhones InFlight for a few months now. BuddyPhones are quite durable and can be bent and twisted without breaking. We’ve had headphones snap in the past. I love that the volume control is simple and kept at safe levels. The boys liked the cool colors, they come in 5 different colors, and the ability to customize the headphones with a variety of kid-centric stickers.
5. Travel Pillows
On longer plane rides or ones that occur late at night or early in the morning, a travel pillow is a necessity. We don’t use anything special though, my boys pack the smaller pillows from their sleeping bags.
Staying safe, comfortable and engaged is key to having an awesome trip especially when traveling with kids. Do you have favorite kids travel gear to pack when going on vacation?
