Last week I shared with you the #SweetSwaps campaign from SPLENDA®, it encourages people to find places to swap sugar for no calorie sweetener. Many people consume way more than the daily recommendation which is only 6 teaspoons for women!
Today I wanted to share a recipe that was both easy and versatile to use while reducing added sugar. I know lots of people love whipped cream and it’s beyond easy to make with a few simple ingredients. Plus you can easily swap the sugar in it with SPLENDA®
Homemade Sugar Free Whipped Cream
- 2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
- 4 T SPLENDA® No Calorie Granulated
- 1/2 t Vanilla Extract
The great thing about this recipe is it can be easily adjusted to taste. Start by combining the heavy whipping cream and vanilla in a mixing bowl. If you like things less sweet (are you crazy?!?!) then start with just 1/2 the sweetener. Mix the ingredients for about a minute and then do a quick taste test. If you want it sweeter, add more SPLENDA® and mix again. Once you have the right amount of sweetness continue blending for several minutes until the cream stiffens up into whipped cream form. You can also adjust the amount of vanilla you use if you like. I used the quantities listed above and everyone loved how my light whipped cream turned out!
This lighter whipped cream is perfect with simple strawberries but would also work on jello, pudding, banana splits, fruit pies, chocolate pies or even chocolate fruit pies. 🙂
SPLENDA® offers a wide variety of products to help you make the sweet swap including: SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener in packets and granulated, SPLENDA® Sugar Blend, and SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend. Splenda® No Calorie Sweetener measures cup for cup like sugar. When using SPLENDA® Sugar Blend and Brown Sugar Blend, you only need 1/2 the required amount. I used the brown sugar blend in the pretzel toffee at Christmas and it was delicious!
