We have been struggling with this little guy and nakedness. He has decided that not only are pants optional but diapers are as well.
And don’t worry, I will not be sharing a naked Elliot picture on the blog. If only so I don’t embarrass my brother, who seems to get all squeamish with my boys and their potty/naked/diaper adventures. <— LOL!
And a naked picture just might embarrass Elliot too, in a few years when he can read….
Anyway, I can’t tell you how many times I have walked into the living room to find Elliot NAKED. And recently he has started taking off his diaper and then putting his shorts back on. I guess he liked to go COMMANDO!? That or he is “tricking me” into thinking he hasn’t removed his diaper. I am not quite sure which idea makes more sense.
Since Elliot isn’t potty trained yet, Commando isn’t an option. And likely NEVER an option in this mama’s opinion.
My solution? Put him back in onesies. I found extra big onesies on older kids ridiculous with Quinn and Peter didn’t tolerate the extra steps (THREE WHOLE SNAPS) that it took to change him. At the time I didn’t realize that some kids might need those snaps as a deterrent…..
Problem solved? Nope!
Finding onesies that fit my monster child has proven a little difficult. The biggest I can find is 24 months but he is in 2T clothing. And unfortunately there is a difference. 24 month clothing tends to be a bit shorter, which means tighter when you are snapping him into a onesie.
I have tried every store from resale to fancy with no luck. I even asked on my facebook page yesterday hoping someone had seen larger onesies recently. No luck with that but thankfully an awesome reader gave me a solution! Onesie extenders. Thanks Melyssa!
Problem solved? Nope!
Now I needed to find these genius inventions which turned out to be harder than I expected. I couldn’t find them locally and ordering from a specialty shop online is just not my cup of tea!
So I decided to make my own! Go Me!
Don’t worry, I had help! I found this super EASY tutorial at Becoming Me.
I picked up two $0.99 onsies with credit from a local resale shop and went to work!
The Finished Product!
Not exactly the prettiest thing in the world, especially since I had to sew it by hand but it’s functional! And no one will see it underneath his pants!
And here is a cute backside shot to show my DIY Onesie Extender in action!
I am so proud of myself! A frugal solution for my pain in the bottom problem!
