Some days, I have time to cook beef stew and bake a triple peanut butter cake for dinner. Most weeknights I just want easy and simple because I don’t have a lot of time. My boys prefer really simple meals too, they don’t even like red pasta sauce. They are straight up butter and pasta guys which I get is totally a kid thing but it doesn’t make for a complete meal. A meal that as a mom, I can feel good about serving. Especially considering the fact that only child will usually eat meatballs. So they aren’t getting any vegetables from the sauce or protein from meatballs.
Thankfully, Barilla has come up with an awesome solution for my protein problem. Barilla ProteinPLUS Pasta provides 17 grams of protein per 3.5 oz portion. And it looks and tastes like regular pasta. Seriously. So my go to pasta meal for my kids is ProteinPlus Pasta topped with a little butter and pecorino romano cheese. I then serve their pasta with a small side salad or fresh veggie crudités and we have a complete meal that is simple, quick and wholesome.
Super Simple Pasta Meal
- Barilla ProteinPLUS angel hair spaghetti (my kids prefer the thinner style pasta)
- pecorino romano cheese, grated
- bell peppers (or other fresh veggies) crudités
- Barilla Marinara (optional for kids that like sauce)
