I’m always up to create an easy and inexpensive craft project. Many crafty people make their own wreaths, in fact my friend Becca made a spooky Halloween wreath a few years ago. I decided it was high time for me to try my hand at making a wreath but not just any wreath a dual purpose fall wreath. One that I could use for both Thanksgiving and Halloween!
My 2-in-1 fall wreath design centered around a fun pumpkin in the center of the wreath. I found a fall/Thanksgiving pumpkin decorated piece at my dollar store. The back was plain pressed particle board, the perfect canvas for a fun Halloween themed design.
To keep the project inexpensive, I made the wreath base out of a pool noodle and duct tape. Actually I added a small section of a 2nd pool noodle to make my wreath big enough for my design.
I love the look of burlap projects, so I planned on wrapping my wreath in burlap. I got lucky and found a fun burlap ribbon with orange chevron pattern at the dollar store. I had to buy 2 rolls of it, but thought it was a festive bargain for only $2!!
Using the paint I already had at home, I went with a fun bat jack-o-lantern on the Halloween side of the pumpkin. There are lots of jack-o-lantern templates online you could use as inspiration. After it dried, I attached my pumpkin to the center of the wreath with orange bakers twine.
I think it turned out pretty cute, don’t you? Keep in mind you could easily walk into a craft store and find similar supplies – a craft foam ring, burlap ribbon and pumpkin cut out (or other fun piece) to add to the center. If you are a bargain shopper, check out your local dollar store/99 Cents Only location to see what fun supplies you can find for only a buck! Either way it’s dual purpose, a two in one fall wreath that you can use from now until Thanksgiving!
