You already know we’re fans of the Walgreens Healthcare Clinic for quick check ups. It’s super convenient to pop in when someone doesn’t feel well. Our store is also convenient to pick up little necessities like a new thermometer which is why I ran to our Walgreens earlier this week. While I was there I also picked up a brochure with information on the vaccines that the Walgreens offers.
Adult Vaccines
We’ve been getting the flu vaccine a few years ago to help prevent or lessen the effects of the flu. Originally I started getting the flu vaccine when the kids were babies, newborns aren’t eligible for flu shots yet if they get the flu it can be devastating. I wanted to give my kids the best shot at being healthy by staying healthy myself! With a compromised immune system in our house, staying healthy has remained extra critical to our family.
I love that Walgreens offers flu vaccines in their stores. There’s no need to make an appointment or wait for a scheduled flu shot clinic. Besides the flu vaccine, Walgreens Healthcare Clinics also offer a variety of other adult immunizations like Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and the Shingles vaccine.
Travel Immunization
We plan on visiting my dad in Chile next year and in preparation we need to check that all of our immunizations are up to date for traveling to South America. My first trip out of the country was over 10 years ago and at the time I had to visit our county health office to get my travel vaccines. Fast forward to 2013, and now you can get your travel vaccines at your local Walgreens Healthcare Clinic! With more convenient locations and longer hours, it will be much easier to get the necessary vaccines for our trip to Chile!
Get A Vaccine. Give A Vaccine
And there is an awesome little incentive for anyone receiving a flu shot or other immunization at Walgreens in the next month. Walgreens has partnered with the United Nation Foundation’s Shot at Life campaign. Until October 14, 2013 they’ll help supply a life saving vaccine to a child in a developing country for every person who receives a flu shot or any immunization at Walgreens. This partnership will provide up to three million vaccines for life threatening diseases like measles and polio.
A few months ago I shared why I am thankful for the Shot at Life campaign. With each vaccination, they are working to give all kids a chance at a healthy life. Personally, I want to give more kids at shot at Awesome Cupcakes. 😉

We are due for our flu shots, and Jack needs a vaccine too! This is a great reason to head to Walgreens for them!
