Another easy way to spell out a name, initial or age is to use candy. Most kids would love the addition of candy on top of their cake. This can be a little tedious depending upon the design you do but it takes very little skill.

This was a very simple cake design but still fit with the Hulk birthday party theme. I ordered a cake from Costco and asked for purple and green birthday designs. Then I attached a Hulk figure once I picked it up. My 5-year old loved it and it was super easy for me.
