Late last year, I was sent a yummy jar of the new Hershey’s chocolate spread as a Klout perk. It sat in my cabinet taunting me everyday to open it. I resisted the urge until I decided to make easy football cookies to celebrate the END of football season. 😉
And by easy I truly mean easy – I simply added 2 TB of flour to a sugar cookie mix in order to make them easier to roll out. My husband is a huge Washington Redskins fan and football in general so I already owned this Wilton Football Cookie Cutter Set (affiliate link).
Make sure the cookies are completely cooled before you start frosting. You could easily use regular chocolate frosting on these cookies but I had the Hershey’s Spread on hand. We really liked the chocolate spread on the cookies, it is much richer than a chocolate frosting.
Plus the Hershey’s spread does not need to be refrigerated. So it’s easy to frost a cookie or two at a time for special lunch box snacks. Quinn was so excited to see a football cookie in his lunch box today!
These cookies make a great dessert for both kids and adults and are perfect when watching the big game!
