It’s almost time for our elf, Honey Pickle to return. Most of the time he simply moves around the house, to one new to a silly place or another but occasionally he brings gifts too.  I like to be prepared with a few gift ideas ahead of time, so I’m not scrambling at the last minute (you know a11 PMPM when I should be sleeping)! I already have one fun elf surprise planned and am sharing it with you today, including a printable you can use too!

Elf Gift Idea + Printable

I decided to mix our elf tradition with our Christmas ornament tradition. I started collecting special Hallmark Ornaments with grandma as a child. We’d drive across town to the Hallmark store and check out the new ornament designs until finding the perfect one. My personal favorites are the cool magic ones that lit up or played music. Now I display these ancient ornaments (some over 20 years old!!) in a special place on our buffet. The boys love looking and talking about them every holiday season, they know I treasure them so they do too.

I want them to have the same special Christmas ornament memories, so I continued th ornament tradition with my boys. I’ve been picking out a new ornament for them every year since they’ve been born. The ornaments represent things they liked or events happening in their life. I have to admit we have gone with Star Wars ornaments several times, and this year was no exception. Quinn was Darth Vader for Halloween and a Storm Trooper was Elliot’s 2nd choice after his BB-8 costume, so these two ornaments were an easy decision.

Elf On The Shelf Printable

I made a cute printable note for Honey Pickle to bring with their new ornaments. He’ll bring the note and ornaments on the day we plan to trim the tree. The boys have already started asking about Christmas decorations, so this might happen sooner than later. Just don’t tell my husband that. 😉

Go ahead and download your own Elf Gift Note. You can hand write in the names or upload the template into picmonkey and use (Komika font, size 82, color code: 365c47 to match my design).

Then simply wrap the ornaments or not, either way your elf bringing fun new ornaments is sure to be a hit!
