This cute holiday activity is making an elf and reindeer using craft supplies and an orange. Perfect for Christmas Break fun or to add in a fun holiday gift.

Looking for a little holiday crafting for your kiddos over winter break? Break out your glue gun and check out these adorable elf and reindeer crafts made with the mandarin oranges and simple craft supplies.

Reindeer Orange Craft Supplies

  • Small mandarin orange
  • Cellophane bag (4”X 6”)
  • Brown pipe cleaner
  • Google eyes
  • Red sparkle pom-poms

I love the simplicity of the Rudolph the reindeer orange craft. Just add a mandarin orange to a small plastic bag and secure the top with a brown pipe cleaner. Bend the ends of the pipe cleaner to form reindeer antlers. Attach googly eyes and red pom-pom to finish off his face. I found my glue gun worked best. If you have little kids making these, stick with glue dots.

How cute is he??

Now let’s try the elf version. This one is a little more involved with cutting out elf ears and making an elf hat but still totally doable for elementary school kids.

Elf Orange Craft Supplies

  • Small mandarin orange
  • Green and red felt
  • Card-stock
  • Googly eyes
  • White or red pom-pom
  • Marker

Start by drawing elf ears on the card stock. I drew mine on a fold in the cardstock so I could cut out two ears at once. Glue the googly eyes and ears on to the orange using a hot glue gun.

To make the elf hat, cut a ~4inch circle out of green felt. You can adjust the size depending upon your orange. Then cut a small slice out of it. This will allow you to twist the felt into a cone hat shape. Use your glue gun to secure the hat’s shape and add a small pom-pom on top.

Finish the elf by making his cute red collar. Cut two squares of red felt slightly larger than the base of your orange. Glue one piece of felt off-set on top of the other, this creates a collared look. Glue the orange on top of your red “collar” and then glue the hat on top. The final step is to draw a small smile on your elf’s face. Done!

These cute crafts were fairly easy for me and the boys to make. We ended up adding them to citrus themed Christmas gifts for their teachers. Add in soap, lotion and maybe one of those fancy chocolate oranges and you are set.Make a reindeer or elf using an orange and add them to a cute holiday citrus themed gift

Halos sent me a fun package that included supplies to create these crafts. No monetary compensation was received, I just want to share a little bit of the #HalosFun with you!
