Last week I was in LA, as a guest of Disney, for the Mary Poppins Returns press junket. During the trip, we were able to watch the Mary Poppins Returns red carpet premiere and walk the red carpet.
I will be sharing my interviews from the cast of Mary Poppins starting next week. Today I want to share a peek at my experience walking the red carpet for the Mary Poppins Returns premiere.
Walking the Mary Poppins Returns Red Carpet
It seems very fitting that it was pouring all day during our interviews with the Mary Poppins cast and continued to rain as we headed to the Mary Poppins Returns world premiere. It seems someone brought typical London weather with them to sunny California.
As we huddled together under shared umbrellas to get from the vans to the red carpet entrance on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, I applauded my friend Kate’s decision to bring her Mary Poppins umbrella with her. It also made for a fun photo on the red carpet.
Mary Poppins Returns Red Carpet on Hollywood Walk of Fame
The red carpet was perfectly themed for Mary Poppins with lots of fun photos and decorations. It was like walking along Cherry Tree Lane.
I am not one to ask celebrities for pictures so the photo above is my picture with Lin Manuel Miranda. And you can see my selfie with Meryl Streep below. 😉
The best part of attending these events is doing it with friends. My red carpet buddy on this trip was Melissa from Sippy Cup Mom!
By the way, my dress is a total steal on Amazon. I am always a fan of anything green and this dress was pretty comfortable. To keep warm, I snuck in a pair of silk long underwear underneath. 😉 I think long dresses are my new favorite thing!
Mary Poppins Returns Premiere at Dolby Theater
After walking the red carpet, we headed up the grand staircase to the Dolby Theater. I’ve attended several red carpet movie premieres but this is the first one I’ve been to at the Dolby Theater. The Dolby Theater is where the Academy Awards are held every year.
They always lock up your phones when you attend events like this so I can’t really show you how beautiful this theater is. I do have this fun picture Marshall did take of us in the theater, he has special privileges. 🙂
Dick Van Dyke received a standing ovation when he took his seat and of course afterward when the stars of Mary Poppins Returns took the stage. It was lovely to see so much support for him, his scene in the movie is awesome!
Mary Poppins Returns Red Carpet Premiere Party
After watching the world premiere of Mary Poppins Returns, everyone headed upstairs to the after party. The party was packed with Mary Poppins fun including photo ops, a penguin ring toss, candy floss and a make a kite craft station.
Check back next week for my interviews with the cast of Mary Poppins Returns!
