#1 Costumes
My favorite reason to attend Mickey’s Halloween Party is the costumes. It’s safe to say I am both Disney and costume obsessed, combine the two and I am in hog heaven. 🙂 Usually costumes are reserved for kids only at Disneyland but during Mickey’s Halloween Party everyone can dress up, even adults! As a result the majority of attendees do dress up. This results in lots of fun and creative costumes. I especially love group or family costume themes. We went as a Peter Pan family our first year and last year as a Batman family. Personally I’d love to do Disneyland Attractions inspired costumes, how fun would it be to do a Tomorrowland costume theme? Or a Fantasyland costume theme?
#2 Trick or Treating
The kid in me cannot imagine a cooler place to trick or treat than Disneyland. Lucky for me, they let adults trick or treat too. There are many trick or treat stations throughout the park and for the health conscious (who is that?!?), they even offer healthier alternatives to candy.
#3 Villains
Disney Villains are out in full force during the party. So many are present that their mere presence transforms Town Square into Villains Square, on Main Street. Captain Hook is one of our favorite Disney Villains to find!
#4 Halloween Parade
I really enjoy the Mickey’s Costume Party Cavalcade, a special Halloween themed mini parade. It’s chock full of Disney characters and Halloween fun. Plus it only runs during Mickey’s Halloween Party.
#5 Treats
Treats are always one of my favorite things at Disneyland. All year long you will find yummy and creative goodies to eat. However, I especially love how Disneyland creates special themed treats for the holidays. The biggest problem is picking out which treat you want to eat.
#6 Halloween Screams Fireworks
The special Halloween Screams fireworks show is hosted by hosted by “Master of Scare-omonies” Jack Skellington and is exclusive to Mickey’s Halloween Party! We only saw a portion of it from an obstructed view our first year, last year we saw the entire thing from Main Street and it was so fun!
#7 Rides
Some people love to simply ride attractions during Mickey’s Halloween Party because the lines can be short while everyone else is enjoying the special Halloween fun. We hit our fair share of rides last year including one of our favorites, the Haunted Mansion Holiday. Personally I am really looking forward to riding Space Mountain again. Quinn just discovered that he LOVES Space Mountain in April. I can’t wait to ride the special Halloween version, Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy with him!
BONUS REASONS
Party and dance the night away with Mike and Sulley at Monsters U Dance Party. It’s a family friendly frat party! We didn’t have time to check it last year, so I’m glad to see it’s back again this year. Fingers crossed!
The Pirate’s League transforms kids into pirates at the Big Thunder Ranch. The boys were dedicated to their Batman and Robin costumes last year but we did watch a friend become a pirate!
Mickey’s Halloween Party is actually a good deal. Tickets start at $63 (select nights with advanced purchase) for up to 8 hours of Disneyland fun! That’s 5 hours of Halloween fun during Mickey’s Halloween Party AND you can enter Disneyland up to three hours before the party starts. That means a full 8 hours of Disneyland fun for much less than the price of a 1-day ticket! Oh and you get lots of candy. 🙂
The 2014 dates for Mickey’s Halloween Party are: Friday, Sept. 26; Tuesday, Sept. 30; Friday, Oct. 3; Monday, Oct. 6, Wednesday, Oct. 8; Friday, Oct. 10; Tuesday, Oct. 14; Friday, Oct. 17; Monday, Oct. 20; Wednesday, Oct. 22; Friday, Oct. 24; Monday, Oct. 27; Wednesday, Oct. 29; and Friday, Oct. 31. Tickets are on sale now, I’d recommend purchasing them sooner rather than later because the parties do sell out.
