A LEGO birthday party is perfect for almost every kid because what kid doesn’t love LEGO? Plus there are so many LEGO themes you can customize the LEGO party ideas specifically for the birthday child.

I’ve partnered with Play-Well to share fun LEGO Party ideas with you today. All the LEGO party ideas are either explained in this post or linked to a tutorial so that you can pull off these amazing LEGO party ideas.

LEGO Birthday Party Ideas

I love an easy party theme and you can’t get any easier or more creative than an awesome LEGO party. Most of the LEGO birthday party ideas below can be niched down to a specific LEGO theme if necessary like a LEGO Duplo Party, LEGO Friends Party, LEGO Ninjago Party, STEM LEGO Party, Star Wars LEGO Party, etc. Or keep the theme simple and just stick with a LEGO party.

LEGO Theme Party Decorations

Start by picking a color scheme based on your LEGO specific party. Think plates, napkins, balloons, table clothes, they should all be in your party color palette. Make your own giant LEGO bricks by wrapping big boxes in solid color paper and add small circles to the front. If you have any decorative LEGO storage boxes, pull those out too. I love this DIY LEGO birthday banner.

Use yellow balloons or paper lanterns to create LEGO man heads. LEGO head decorations are super easy to make and are a really fun addition to your party decorations. And don’t forget to use actual LEGO bricks. Spell out the birthday child’s name, ‘Happy Birthday’ or their age with bricks.

Etsy is also a great place for invitations, decorations and other fun party ideas to buy or just inspire your own DIY ideas.

LEGO Building at Lego Birthday Party

If you own a lot of LEGO bricks, you could let the kids just sit down and play for a while for a party activity. Not all kids would find this fun though without directions to follow, plus do you have enough LEGO bricks for 10-20 kids to play?

The easy solution is Play-Well TEKnologies birthday party service. Play-Well brings over 20,000 pieces of LEGO to each party. An instructor comes to set up and leads the kids on a specific project you have chosen. Projects you can build include a race car, merry go round, and parade float. You can also pick themed projects from Star Wars, Ninjago and Minecraft.

I love the idea of having someone else lead the kids during the party. This mama does not want to do all of the planning AND entertaining. Learn more about the Play-Well birthday party options.

By the way, my boys loved the Play-Well LEGO-Inspired Summer Camp they attended a few years ago. Play-Well is available in 28 states, you can find a camp near you here.

LEGO Store Parties

I haven’t seen brithday parties at official stores before but I know our local Bricks & Minifigs store offers LEGO-themed party packages complete with a party host that facilities building and making mini figures. These LEGO parties include super fun LEGO party favors including a LEGO minifig and a container of LEGO pieces for an additional fee.

There is even 30 minutes scheduled for a LEGO cake, or other LEGO party food. Some places don’t like outside food brought in but this venue allows it.

LEGO Party Fun Activity Ideas

Depending upon your specific LEGO theme and the age of the kids, you can download free printable coloring pages or party activities at LEGO.com. I easily found LEGO City, LEGO Ninjago and LEGO Disney coloring pages to download. Don’t forget about simple party games. Need ideas? Check out this list of LEGO party games for more creative ideas.

LEGO Favor Bags

I love the simplicity of these LEGO party favor bags. They are perfect for a bag of goodies or to use when collecting candy from a fun LEGO pinata. Just buy solid color gift bags or lunch bags from the dollar store and add matching round dots cut from construction paper to the front. Theme them to the typical LEGO primary colors or whatever color scheme fits your party.

LEGO Minifigures Party Favors

Not everyone is hip to giving party favors to their guests. To be honest, when my kids get a bag full of candy or junky toys, I cringe a little. I don’t mind simple, thoughtful things for party guests though.

If you have a LEGO Ninjago themed party, these pool noodle nunchucks are super fun and easy to DIY ahead of time. Or make these DIY LEGO bath bombs to pass out to guests as party favors.

Learn how to make homemade bath fizzies for kids with a few ingredients and molds. This DIY bath bomb recipe includes hidden lego minifigures. They are an awesome craft activity for a LEGO themed party or as a fun birthday party favor to give to guests. Bath Fizzies DIY Kids | Fizzy Bath Boms
LEGO bath bombs can be a LEGO birthday party activity or party favor.

Tweens or Teens might enjoy making these DIY LEGO Mason Jar Aquariums at the party. It would be a unique party activity and party favor they can take home.

A simple assortment of Minifigure packs would also be well received and just about the easiest (and most practical) LEGO party favor out there. The best part of LEGO for my youngest is playing with different Minifigures, so I know he’d love to receive a Minifigure pack as a party favor. Plus we love to trade Minifigures at LEGOLAND or the LEGO Discovery Center. You could even encourage kids to trade Minifigures at the party.

LEGO Themed Birthday Party Food

Depending upon your creative culinary level, you can definitely create some fun LEGO-themed food ideas for the party. Homemade fruit snacks or chocolates using LEGO brick molds would be fairly simple to create. Or just grab some cute LEGO themed food tents to label all your party food.

LEGO Birthday Cake Ideas

I have a couple of simple LEGO treats perfect for a LEGO themed party including LEGO cookies and LEGO brownies. These LEGO batman cookies are fun for a LEGO Movie or LEGO superhero themed party. If you want some a little more general, LEGO brownie bricks are the best and can definitely be themed to your party color scheme.

A supersized LEGO cake is also easy to theme to any LEGO party idea. All you need is a loaf pan and marshmallows to create an easy LEGO cake that looks like a giant LEGO brick.

Make your LEGO party a LEGO Movie costume party. The LEGO Movie has lots of characters, basically, every LEGO set/theme ever created is valid making it easy to come with costumes ideas. In fact, it was our Halloween theme one year, check out all the LEGO Movie costume ideas we had!
