Disneyland officially launched the new Star Tours 2.0 ride today!  <—Or The Star Wars ride as Quinn calls it!

And in honor of opening day and all the craziness that is happening over there (I have read that there is a wait time of 6-7 hours, crazy!)… I am going to share some of our Star Tours adventure from 2 weeks ago…

I won a contest on the Disneyland blog to preview the Star Rides before it opened to the public.  Luckily our Disneyland trip coincided with this special event.  I basically won the opportunity for me and a guest to ride the new Star Tours ride before it opened to the public.

The prize check in was scheduled between 3:30 and 7:30 AM.  <– 3:30? WHAT?

Clearly we showed up close to 7:30 AM.  I actually gave my ride to Peter because he is way more excited about Star Wars and the Star Tours ride actually activates my motion sickness. <– Star Tours and Tea Cups are my least fave Disney rides

Once the big boys got their special bracelets to ride Star Tours we headed for the HUGE line wrapped around outside Disneyland in the shuttle drop off area.  Elliot and I waited in line with them until they entered the park.  Then Elliot and I got in the regular park entrance line.

When the park opened up for everyone else, Elliot and I rode a few rides: Buzz Light Year, the Rocket Ships and the ever popular dining area… <—Where I could corner Elliot and let him roam a bit

I did grab a few pictures of the big boys in line…

It took them about 3 hours from the time we checked in until they rode the ride.

Quinn LOVED it!

Because I didn’t get a chance to ride it, I can’t really comment a lot on specifics, but Peter gave me the most important updates….

Peter’s top 3 changes:

  1. C3PO is your guide on the shuttle rather than a random, unknown droid.
  2. It’s in 3D
  3. There are many different flights to take… rather than the same one over and over again!

In fact there are a total of 54 combinations possible! <—I love math!

  • Confrontation – Vader or Stormtroopers
  • Destination 1 – Tatooine or Hoth or Kashyyyk
  • Hologram – Akbar or Yoda or Leia
  • Destination 2 – Naboo or Coruscant or Death Star

And what combination did my 2 big boys ride? They saw Stormtroopers, Hoth, Lei, and Coruscant.

1 down, 53 to go!

They were given a fun pin commemorating their special ride… (its on the stroller bag in the picture).

And a bonus surprise for me… One of my best friends randomly won the contest as well… and so they drove out for a quick 2 night trip to participate!  So we were able to eat lunch together and hang out a little!  And they brought their pet/mascot/child MONKEY dressed as Chewy!

If you know LeAnne and Andy, then you know Monkey.. and if you don’t know them.. then I have no explanation for you.

It was fun hanging out with friends at Disneyland.. I haven’t done that in a long time!  I am hoping we can plan a dual family trip with them at some point!! (And maybe the Rodriguez family can join us too…hint, hint).

Anyway, so I want to know….

Are you excited to ride the new Star Tours?  What combination ride would be the ultimate ride for you?

Disney, Disneyland

LOVE LOVE LOVE the new blog format – It’s P-R-E-T-T-Y! It’s GORGEOUS! Ok – enough caps. Seriously, its amazing! Great colors and graphic up there is stunning. I’d look good on a t-shirt, bumper sticker, hint, hint, hint.
