Attending a red carpet movie premiere was never on my bucket list but when Disney invites you to a once-in-a-lifetime event, you say yes! I’ve been on Disney press trips before but this was the first time the trip included a red carpet premiere. How could I resist getting dolled up for a fancy event in Hollywood? Check out my experience at The Jungle Book red carpet premiere.
Our red carpet experience started with pictures on the famous Oscar stairs! Then we headed across the street to the El Capitan Theater for The Jungle Book red carpet.
Somehow I was surprised by the crowds of people lined up across the street, waiting to catch a glimpse of their favorite celebrity.
Naturally, the red carpet was jungle themed with lots of hanging branches and shrubs throughout. There was even a jungle sounds soundtrack playing that added to the illusion.
We caught glimpses of the cast as we walked down the red carpet. They were stopping for photos, autographs, and/or interviews. In fact, if you look quick you will see a glimpse of me in the background as soon as Sir Ben Kingsley starts talking on USA Today.
Giancarlo Esposito who voices Akela, arrived as we did! And I have a quick glimpse of Lupita Nyong’o and Neel Sethi in my video below!
What surprised me the most was how short the actual red carpet is. From pictures and television coverage of red carpet events, I assumed it was a full city block of parading down the red carpet in fancy shoes. 😉
We tried to walk slowly and enjoy the experience as much as possible. Take a peek at our red carpet experience in my video below.
The Jungle Book Red Carpet Experience
Unfortunately, we had to check our phones before we headed into the theaters, so I can’t share what the theater looked like inside. It seemed very old Hollywood, fancy though. 😉 There was a live Jazz band playing on stage as people found their seats and elaborately Jungle Book decorations in the theater.
After watching the movie, we headed across the street to the OHM nightclub for The Jungle Book Premiere Party. The nightclub was full of party goers including cast from the movie and other celebrities. There were plenty of activities set up including crafts, Disney Infinity featuring the new Baloo figure, virtual reality experiences, and a photo booth. We couldn’t pass up on the Disneyland themed food: turkey legs, churros and dole whips!
It was a once in a lifetime type of experience and I am so thankful that Disney invited me to attend!
The Jungle Book opens in theaters on April 15!
I have been invited by Disney to cover the press junket for The Jungle Book and Walk The Prank. As always, all opinions are my own.
