I’m here in Los Angeles ready to walk the red carpet tomorrow night for Disney’s The Jungle Book! We started our trip this evening with an early screening of the movie at the AMC Prime theater in Burbank. It was the perfect opportunity to rock the awesome DIY Jungle Book shirt I made.

DIY Jungle Book Shirt Tutorial

Honestly, I think the templates are too detailed to attempt with scissors but if you have super skills, you might be able to make it work. I am not that skilled and was super happy to rely on my Cricut machine!

If you’ve never worked with iron on vinyl, I recommend watching a youtube video first. Don’t worry though, it’s really fairly simple. This was my first project using iron vinyl and it turned out great. There are a few things to keep in mind. 1) Read and follow the vinyl manufacturer’s recommendations. I imagine that most companies would have similar directions but better safe than sorry! 2) Don’t forget to reverse the image before you cut it out. This is super important because you will flip it over when you iron it onto the shirt.

After you weed (or remove) all the excess vinyl (around your image), turn it over facing up and find the perfect placement on your shirt. Cover it with a cotton towel before ironing on the design. It took more pressure than I expected to adhere the vinyl to the t-shirts. Just take a quick peek as you go and keep the iron moving so it doesn’t melt the design.

I made two shirts for our Jungle Book Press Trip, one for me and one for the lovely Becca to wear. I’m sharing my template below, so you can make your own DIY Jungle Book shirt too!
