While on the set of Walk The Prank, we spoke with a couple of the cast members. The kids were busy filming a scene for most of our visit. In between watching takes of that scene, we spoke at length with Tobie Windham who stars as Uncle Will. Uncle Will is Dusty’s uncle who owns a joke shop and helps guides the team of pranksters in Disney XD’s “Walk the Prank.” Uncle Will is a crucial part of the series to make the pranks believable. Otherwise, 4 kids showing up without an adult might raise suspicion.
Tobie talked about being there during the live pranks to protect everyone because even though the jokes are in good fun you never know how someone will react. His barometer for judging their reaction is to offer a high five right after the prank. If they give him a high five back, then they are good and understand that it’s just a prank.
Out of the 40+ real pranks they’ve done so far with 4 targets each, only one person wouldn’t give him a high five. Eventually, she did come around and was cool with the prank. That seems like pretty good results. I think the key to their setup is that all “marks” are set up by a friend. Hopefully they are still friends with that person afterwards. 😉
Tobie was super fun to chat with and you can see why he was cast in this role. He is having good natured fun on the show and wants the audience to as well. He even had a “Robot” dance off with some of the writers on the trip. 😉
Here’s a fun clip from last week’s episode. The show is recommended for 7+ and my 6 year was a little scared of this afterwards even though it’s clearly a prank. It won’t stop him from wanting to watch the 3rd episode tonight!
