It should come as no surprise to my regular readers that we usually have more than one Halloween costume each year. Last year, we dressed in Star Wars family costumes for Halloween night but went to Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland with an Inside Out costume theme.

There are plenty of character options from Pixar's Inside Out. Check out these DIY Inside Out Family Costumes for ideas and inspiration.

Inside Out family costumes was such a fun theme to wear to Disneyland, we received quite a few comments on both Bing Bong and Riley’s Imaginary Boyfriend from cast members! And of course, the boys were adorable as Fear and Anger.

Pixar’s Inside Out is an excellent family costume theme because there are so many characters to choose from. Naturally the main characters: Joy, Anger, Sadness, Fear, and Disgust are the most popular costumes but there are quite a few fun secondary characters to choose from as well. I had fun dressed up as Bing Bong and we ended up choosing Riley’s Imaginary Boyfriend for Peter.

Inside Out Anger Costume

Anger From Inside Out Costume Idea

Quinn’s Anger costume was pretty darn easy and inexpensive. The base of the costume is dark slacks and a white button-down shirt, 2 things you’d likely already own or if you did purchase, you could wear them again.

Add grey detail to a red tie and create the mask out of red duct tape and construction paper and you are done! You could also add crazy red hair but I didn’t think Quinn would want to wear that walking around Disneyland.

Head over and read all the details including a template for the mask: DIY Inside Out Anger Costume.

Inside Out Fear Costume

Homemade Fear Inside Out Costume idea

Elliot’s Fear costume was a little more involved but turned out so adorable. A blue & white striped long sleeve shirt and blue shorts were the starting point of the Fear costume.

We opted out of a purple wig and instead made a Fear cap using a purple knit cap, felt and a sparkly pipe cleaner. I ended up making his houndstooth vest and bow tie of duct tape. Alternatively, you could just buy a vest and bow tie. Head over and check out all the DIY details including the template I used to make the Fear Hat: DIY Inside Out Fear Costume.

Inside Out Bing Bong Costume

I went for over the top ridiculous for my own costume and dressed up as Bing Bong. The base of my costume was a bright pink dress that helped give me his overall color. I pieced the rest together including his little hat, brown jacket, and gloves.

The striped socks and flower button were my favorite parts of the costume. Check out how I pulled it all together including a tutorial to make your own Bing Bong flower pin: DIY Inside Out Bing Bong Costume.

Inside Out Riley’s Imaginary Boyfriend Costume

Peter’s costume was the easiest one of the group (and likely the easiest all Inside Out costume ideas to make). White t-shirt, jeans, and converse was the imaginary boyfriend uniform.

A headful of hair (or wig) could also help, we skipped it. 😉 I added “I would die for Riley” iron-on transfer to the white t-shirt.

Another idea would be to carry a speech bubble sign with that written on it but since we were playing at Disneyland, I didn’t want to worry about carrying a sign on rides.
