Is anyone looking for a fun way to incorporate Disney Planes costumes into a group theme for Halloween? Other than everyone wearing a fun cardboard airplane costume. I brainstormed a bit and came up with related travel costume ideas.

Airplane Costume Ideas

Naturally I can’t share my ideas without fun pictures to go with it, so the boys and I played dress up while daddy grudgingly took pictures.

Ok maybe only a little grudgingly… ๐Ÿ™‚

Airport Costume 3

It’s all fun and games until someone remembers he just woke up from a mini, impromptu nap….

Airport Costume 4

Luckily only E was grumpy and Q helped pull him out of it with his silliness. ๐Ÿ™‚

Airport Costumes 2

The boys’ favorite part of our photo shoot was following me down the “runway”

Airport Costume 5

They asked when can we “play airport” again….

Airport Costume 6

It was definitely a successful if not goofy endeavor…Luckily my boys dig Goofy.

Travel Costume Ideas

Naturally we will start with my two fabulous cardboard airplane costumes inspired by Disney Planes!

Dusty the crop-duster from Disney Planes

Dusty was my first airplane costume idea. I promise it’s super easy and just takes cardboard, duct tape and a few other things to make it.

Airport Costumes 7

El Chupacabra from Disney Planes

Next up was another plane costume from Disney Planes, El Chupacabra which was just as easy to make.

Airport Ground Crew Costume

Dressing up as an airport ground crew worker is a super easy costume to pull together. A safety vest, sun glasses, big headphones and marshaling wands (or short orange lightsabers).

We had everything on hand except of course the orange light sabers. I made mine with empty toilet paper rolls (3 per stick) and orange duct tape. Super easy!

Airport Costumes Air Traffic Controller

Peter refused to dress up as a flight attendent, he’s no fun sometimes. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Never fear I scoured the interest for fun DIY airplane related costume ideas including an Airplane Pilot, Flight Attendant and Tourists!

This is fantastic! Where did you get the safety vest?

Thanks Tammy! My husband had the safety vest because his job requires him to be on job sites occasionally. Anyone who visits or works on a job site or road worker, even police offices should have one. I would ask your friends and family. And I am sure home depot or Lowes would sell a basic vest too!

Thanks Karen. My sons saw this post while we were searching for Halloween costumes. They want to be characters from Planes now. Thank you for sharing and hope our costumes turn out half as cute as yours!!!!

Too cute. I linked to your post from my post (October 1, 2013 @0900

I think you can get safety vests at Ikea as well.
We live on an airpark and there was a game or two of playing airport when my kidlets were smaller.

ooh that’s interesting about IKEA. We don’t live super close to one, but definitely a great idea for others to check out!

I love this so much! I want to make a plane like this for my baby’s stroller (since he won’t be walking by Halloween). Any tips?

I would suggest fitting the big cardboard box around the stroller first and then build it from there? You saw the links to the airplane costume instructions right?

It sounds like an awesome idea! I would love to see pictures of it when you get done!!

I am the “games guy” for our Sunday night youth groups, and I rack my brain every week to come up with different fun things to entertain groups from 4 years of age to the 6th grade. I SOOOOOOO appreciate how creative this is! And think I will steal it for using with the 4 years olds! Nice job!
