It’s been a few months since I’ve created fun character inspired cupcakes. After screening the Jungle Book, I was inspired by a film sequence featuring the extreme lengths Mowgli and Baloo go to acquire honey. Check out these adorable Jungle Book cupcakes!

Baloo's Honeycomb Cupcakes for The Jungle Book

Jungle Book Cupcake Ingredients & Supplies

  • Yellow cake cake mix (or recipe)
  • Sugar cookie dough (mix or from scratch)
  • Yellow buttercream frosting
  • Yellow sprinkles
  • Hexagon cookie cutters
  • Yellow cupcake liners
  • Teddy bear graham cracker cookies

How to Make Hexagon Honeycomb Cookies

Start by creating your hexagon cookie toppers. Roll out sugar cookie dough and use 2 different sized hexagon cookie cutters to cut out the hexagon outline. Bake and let cool. To keep the frosting thinner on the cookie, I warmed the frosting first. Then brushed the runny frosting on each cookie before dipping it in the yellow sprinkles. I am not sure if this is really necessary. You could also just frost cookies normally before adding yellow sprinkles. Set aside.

Decorate Baloo's Honeycomb Jungle Book Cupcakes

Make yellow cake cupcakes using a cake mix or your favorite recipe. Fill the liners 1/2- 2/3 of the way full, you want the cupcakes to be level or slightly domed once baked. Let cool, then it’s time to decorate them using the cookies you made earlier.

Frost the cupcakes with yellow buttercream frosting, add a hexagon cookie on top and then a teddy bear graham cracker in the center.

Baloo's Honeycomb Cupcakes for a Jungle Book themed party

Arrange the cupcakes on a tray in a honeycomb shape. If you like to use party food labels, I’ve created a cute one for these cupcakes.
