Today, I am sharing everything Simpsons at Universal Studios Florida with you, that way you can plan your own visit to Homer and Bart’s hometown.
On our second visit to Universal Orlando, we spent extra time exploring all things Simpsons and the boys loved every minute it of it. The boys had recently started watching the Simpsons show making this visit to Springfield: Home of the Simpsons much more relevant and fun for them.
Simpsons Universal Tips: Things to do in Springfield
There are quite a few fun things to do in Springfield at Universal Studios Orlando. More than I remembered from our Universal Studios Hollywood visit a few years ago.
If you are a big Simpsons fan, plan on spending a couple hours to explore and experience everything in Springfield. Both rides in Springfield participate in Universal Express Pass, you can save yourself some time if you utilize this pass.
The Simpsons Ride
The Simpsons Ride is a motion simulator that lets guests ride with the Simpson family on a roller coaster in Krustyland. The ride includes funny parodies of attractions at other theme parks and a giant Maggie. It’s a fun ride for anyone that loves the Simpsons.
Kang & Kodos’ Twirl n’ Hurl
This outdoor attraction is spinning ride themed around spaceships and the notorious aliens, Kang and Kodos from the Tree House of Horror specials. It’s like Dumbo at Disneyland except you fly a spaceship instead of an elephant.
Simpsons Carnival Games
Near the entrance to The Simpsons Ride are several different carnival games and guess what the prizes are?? I bet you didn’t guess Simpsons Souvenirs. ๐ We played a few and Elliot won a Krusty the Clown stuffed animal.
Simpsons Universal Character Encounter
Meet the Simpsons and other residents of Springfield at the Simpsons Character Zone. Times and characters vary. We only saw the Simpsons themselves, but other Springfield residents like Krusty and Sideshow Bob are also a possibility. Homer noticed himself on Quinn’s shirt and was pretty impressed. It’s always fun to wear fun themed shirts when visiting theme parks.
Springfield Photo Opps
Springfield is very well themed with lots of fun photo opportunities. Take your time to explore the area and snap a few fun pictures! Coach Wiggum is stationed outside Lard Lad Donuts.
Food and Drink in Springfield
There are no full-service restaurants in Springfield but a variety of quick service dining options that will definitely work for most families short on time.
Moe’s Tavern at Simpsons Universal
Step inside Moe’s for a cold Duff beer or other fun drink. Don’t forget to get a picture of Barney Gumble!
Fast Food Boulevard
Fast Food Boulevard is a food court with a variety of food & drink options: Krusty Burgers, Lisa’s Teahouse of Horror, The Frying Dutchman, Luigi’s Pizza, Flaming Moe’s and Cletus’ Chicken Shack.
It was a great place for us to have a quick meal because we didn’t have to debate the type of food we wanted. Everyone ate what they wanted, they offered anything from pizza and Krusty Burgers to fish and chicken. The dining room had plenty of indoor seating which is a great respite from the hot Florida sun.
Lard Lad Donuts
Just outside of Fast Food Boulevard is Lard Lad Donuts featuring a variety of sweet treats. Don’t pass on the giant pink donut. It’s the best deal in the park. Three of us snacked on it several times throughout the day. It was so yummy. Have I mentioned my love of pink donuts with sprinkles before? ๐
If you head to Universal Studios Hollywood, stop by their Lard Lad Donuts to pick up a variety of different giant donuts, not just the pink one. It’s one way Universal Studios Hollywood is better than Orlando!
Duff Brewery
Duff Brewery is an outdoor beer garden featuring snacks and drinks, like Duff Beer. DOH!
Bumble Bee Man’s Taco Truck
We didn’t try anything here but apparently, food trucks are all the rage in Springfield too. ๐
Simpsons Universal Souvenirs
You may find random Simpson’s Souvenirs through Universal Studios but the best place to look is at Kwik-E-Mart in Springfield. Don’t forget you can also win some Simpsons themed prizes at the carnival games.
Kwik-E-Mart at Simpsons Universal
Kwiki-E-Mart does sell some Duff energy drinks and giant pink Lard Lad donuts but the bulk of its products are fun Simpsons themed souvenirs. We ended up with a giant stuffed pink donut and giant stuffed can of Duff beer. Totally appropriate souvenirs for two kids, right? At least they were stuffed toys. ๐
