The LEGO Movie Costume Ideas

We are big on family Halloween costume themes; In the past we’ve done Toy Story, Star Wars, Peter Pan and Super Heroes. This year the boys picked The LEGO Movie. The LEGO Movie is a great choice because it offers many costume options and including a generic LEGO person with the big LEGO head. 🙂

Our plan is for Lucy (me), Emmet (Quinn), President Business (Peter) and Michaelangelo (Elliot).

Both Lucy and Emmet are easy costumes that can be pulled together with regular clothes and a few embellishments.

Lucy/WyldStyle

Start with a black hoodie and pants and add a pattern to it with duct tape. Using duct tapes allows you to adjust your design without worrying about glue or sewing and it can be removed easily after Halloween. Add colored hair extensions to a side pony tail and you are set! Hair paint or  hair chalk are also easy options.

Emmet

A plain blue shirt and orange pants make up the base of Emmet’s look. Add in an orange safety vest, red safety hat and badge and you are done!

Michaelangelo

We already own a couple of ninja turtle costumes from previous Halloween clearance sales, they make fun xmas presents. 😉 Of course we don’t actually have Michaelangelo costume but we can use the turtle body suit as the costume base. Then add in an orange eye mask, arm bands, leg bands and nun chucks and Michaelangelo will be done!

Mr. Business

Peter is a little fussier about costumes.  He immediately settled upon Mr. Business which could be done easily with a black suit and a little hair paint/chalk, unfortunately he doesn’t have a black suit nor the patience to scour thrift stores for a good option. He’s opting for a mask  (I found an Etsy store that makes LEGO Movie masks) and a t-shirt that looks like a business suit. His costume will definitely be the most expensive since I won’t be making any part of it.

Additional LEGO Movie Costume Ideas

When we say a family costume theme, we don’t just mean dressing the 4 of us up. My parents, brothers and sister-in-laws, sometimes even a few extras join in the fun! So far this year we will have a Vitruvius, Bad Cop, Cleopatra, Batman and UniKitty. I can’t wait to see how everyone’s costumes turn out!
