Celebrate Star Wars Day with these super easy BB8 cupcakes inspired by the cutest little droid in the galaxy.
I love a good cupcake with vanilla buttercream frosting (strawberry is a close second). So I jump at any reason to celebrate with a cupcake!
Easy BB8 Cupcakes
These cupcakes are very easy to make using BB-8’s color palette of orange, black, white and grey or silver. I kept the design simple because if I can make it, anyone can make it! Even little kids with some supervision.

BB8 Cupcake Recipe Ingredients
I randomly found this fun box of orange cake mix at my store and it inspired me to make this BB8 cupcakes. If you don’t have orange cake mix or would rather make your own cake from scratch, just use food dye to make cake batter orange instead.
I did make homemade butter cream frosting because it’s easier for me to decorate with and I LOVE homemade frosting. I didn’t use a fancy pastry bag though, I just used a ziplock bag with the corner cut off.
How to make an easy BB8 cupcake design
Once your orange cupcakes are baked, let them cool. Then top each cupcake with white frosting. I swirled the frosting up to give it a little height. Then top the cupcake with orange and grey sprinkles.
It’s important to do this after frosting each one rather than waiting until they are all frosted. The frosting hardens up pretty quickly and the sprinkles will not stick. Trust me on this. 😉
The final touch was a single piece of black Sixlets candy. They are perfectly little spheres and work great! I found mine at the candy store in the mall but I know some grocery stores carry them as well.
That’s it. It’s an easy enough design that the kiddos can help with it. I think they would be perfect for a Star Wars themed party!
